The Challenge
The client used a legacy VBA business logic-powered, Excel-based application to clean, process, and generate quotes for new client projects. However, as the underlying processes evolved, it failed to support additional data field requirements and new workflows.
Compounding the issue, there was no in-house expertise available to enhance the existing VBA logic to accommodate growing business needs. As a result, employees had to manually add missing details and make adjustments, leading to operational inefficiencies, increased effort, and a higher risk of errors in the final quotations.
Our Solution
We onboarded an experienced developer to align the legacy application’s business logic and code with modern business requirements.
Business Logic Enhancement
Clean code was developed and deployed to enhance and extend the existing VBA business logic to incorporate new data fields and rules without disrupting ongoing workflows. This would enable the application to generate quotations automatically without manual additions or corrections.
Dual Quotation Formats
A new functionality was integrated to generate project quotes in two distinct formats. Customer quotations were produced as polished, client-facing documents for external communication, while internal quotations provided detailed information for tracking, review, and approval purposes.
Export Process Improvement
The export feature was enhanced to generate finalized quotations in new, cleanly formatted Excel workbooks. This improvement also enabled employees to easily attach and share quotations with customers via email.
