The Challenge
The client was using the desktop version of a third-party accounting platform for their financial operations. As the organization evolved, they wanted to migrate to its online version while retaining all existing desktop features and adding new functionalities.
Additionally, they aimed to integrate it with their manufacturing ERP system. However, due to the lack of access to the desktop software’s source code, they were unable to support the migration effectively or enable seamless integration.
Our Solution
A strategic approach was adopted to enable seamless and secure platform integration.
Feature Retention and Addition
All essential features from the desktop platform were preserved, and new functionalities were introduced while transitioning to the online version.
Integration Application Development
A new integration Windows application based on custom APIs was developed to connect the manufacturing ERP system with the online accounting platform.
Database Table Creation
Dedicated database tables were built in the online version of the accounting platform to manage and save configuration settings.
Data Synchronization
Microsoft Task Scheduler was used to automate data synchronization at predefined intervals.
Browser Component Implementation
Microsoft Edge was incorporated into the newly developed integration application to ensure browser compatibility.
Sync History and Log Update
Sync history and logs were updated with additional information fields to deliver better visibility into data transfers between the two platforms.
